Kepakaran Dosen:
Dr. Kunarso memiliki kepakaran di bidang oseanografi fisik dengan fokus pada dinamika laut, analisis suhu permukaan laut, arus laut, upwelling, dan variabilitas iklim laut di wilayah Indonesia. Penelitian beliau banyak berkaitan dengan pemanfaatan data satelit dan penginderaan jauh untuk memantau kondisi oseanografi, produktivitas perairan, serta hubungan fenomena iklim seperti ENSO dan Indian Ocean Dipole terhadap kondisi laut Indonesia. Selain itu, beliau juga aktif dalam kajian pemodelan oseanografi, analisis spasial kelautan, dan pengembangan sistem informasi kelautan untuk mendukung pengelolaan sumber daya pesisir dan laut secara berkelanjutan.
