Dr. Ervia Yudiati memiliki kepakaran di bidang bioteknologi kelautan dan biologi laut dengan fokus pada eksplorasi sumber daya hayati laut, khususnya mikroalga dan organisme laut sebagai sumber senyawa bioaktif. Penelitian beliau banyak berkaitan dengan antioksidan alami, metabolit sekunder organisme laut, bioprospeksi mikroalga, serta pengembangan produk berbasis sumber daya laut untuk aplikasi pangan, kesehatan, kosmetik, dan lingkungan. Selain itu, beliau juga aktif dalam kajian biodiversitas laut, kultur mikroalga, serta pemanfaatan bioteknologi untuk mendukung pengelolaan sumber daya pesisir dan laut secara berkelanjutan.
